Inspiring Stories

As we work together to protect, restore, regenerate and rewild our wetlands be inspired by organizations and individuals who are leading the way.

Here are some of their stories.

Carling Campus in Ottawa

Friends of Stittsville Wetlands were recently made aware of a successful wetland restoration project on the Carling Campus near the corner of Moodie and Corkstown roads.

The Ottawa-Carleton Wildlife Centre has been working with Public Services and Procurement Canada, the National Capital Commission and the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority on the restoration and rewilding of this valuable urban wetland.

Watch a CBC news story about this exciting project here as well as a drone video of the restored wetland. To learn more about the variety of government and community partners involved, click here.

Our thanks to Donna DuBreuil, Co-Founder and President of the Ottawa-Carleton Wildlife Centre for sharing this inspiring story. This project serves as a ‘best practices’ model, highlighting what can be achieved for the environment when people work together.
