Our Goals

To achieve our mission the Friends of Stittsville Wetlands will:

  • Create and lead a collaborative partnership engaging the private sector, the public sector - including the City of Ottawa, the Government of Ontario and Canada - and non-governmental organizations, such as conservation authorities and other conservation partners, local schools, colleges and universities, community, and neighbourhood associations.

  • Work with our partners to implement a variety of strategies, including conservation property acquisition, conservation easements, the Ecological Gifts Program under the Income Tax Act (Canada) and other grant and incentive programs.

  • Work with our partners to establish the structure and resources to successfully manage our wetlands going forward.

  • Raise awareness of the ecological importance of wetlands and provide educational opportunities to engage the community in the protection, restoration, regeneration, and rewilding of our wetlands.

The portion of the Goulbourn Wetland Complex of particular interest to the Friends of Stittsville Wetlands is located immediately west of the urban boundary of Stittsville and north and south of the TransCanada Trail.
